We touch for Meaning

exploring expression through the human hand.

This visual project delves into the magic of our hands,
guiding us through the jungle of things.
Swift tools — our hands serve as the bridge to the outside world.
What makes them extraordinary is that with these hands,
we don’t just do — we act.

Through them, we infuse meaning,
weaving objects into intricate tales that set off a dance of actions.
The hand grasps the jug’s handle, pouring water into the cup,
the spoon swirling within, stirring.
Through the human hand, these random actions become one.
Inseparably entwined, we are with our hands and the worlds they mold.

And have you ever noticed how the functionality
of objects often mirrors the complexity
of our own bodies, particularly our hands?
There is an impossible-to-untangle knot between us and the objects that surround us, as they extend our bodies.

We use tools to make our bodies and our sphere of influence larger — making our arms longer to reach, our fingers stronger to grasp and our palms deeper to contain—Isn’t that extremely beautiful?

The first water bowl is our hands—one resting on the other,
the first basket—fingers woven into each other.

This visual journey is a poetic exploration of the world of everyday things and our intimate connection with them. A personal selection—limited to my two hands—of images embedding objects into diverse narratives. It’s a tribute to the graceful choreography our hands perform. A gentle encouragement to play more with our own bare hands—discovering form and function. In the play lies the art of discovery.

With each touch, a transformation unfolds.
